Investigation of the Rehabilitation Intervention Effect of a Robotic Ankle Foot Orthosis for Cerebrovascular Hemiplegia Patients

نویسندگان

چکیده

[Purpose] The purpose of this study was to examine the effects exercises using a robotic ankle foot orthosis (R-AFO) for recovering hemiplegia patients. [Participants and Methods] subjects were 24 cerebrovascular intervention period 10 days. Evaluation performed before after intervention. R-AFO group 60 minutes regular physical therapy practice 20 R-AFO, total 80 minutes, control practice. [Results] items showing significant differences between groups walking speed, unilateral support time on paralyzed side, left-right symmetry rate time, Functional Independence Measure. [Conclusion] results repeated gait training while wearing suggest possibility improving by increasing proportion spent supporting one leg side.

The Effect of Rocker Bar Ankle Foot Orthosis on Functional Mobility in Post-Stroke Hemiplegic Patients

Objectives: Ankle Foot Orthoses (AFOs) are widely utilized to improve walking ability in hemiplegic patients. The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of Rocker bar Ankle Foot Orthosis (RAFO) on functional mobility in post-stroke hemiplegic patients. Methods: Fifteen hemiplegic patients (men and women) who were at least 6-months post-stroke and able to walk without assistive device for...

A portable powered ankle-foot orthosis for rehabilitation.

Innovative technological advancements in the field of orthotics, such as portable powered orthotic systems, could create new treatment modalities to improve the functional out come of rehabilitation. In this article, we present a novel portable powered ankle-foot orthosis (PPAFO) to provide untethered assistance during gait. The PPAFO provides both plantar flexor and dorsiflexor torque assistan...

Effect of a rigid ankle-foot orthosis on hamstring length in children with hemiplegia.

Eighteen children with hemiplegia, mean age 8 years 5 months, underwent gait analysis and musculoskeletal modelling using specially designed software. The maximum lengths of the hamstrings were determined for each child walking in and out of an ankle-foot orthosis (AFO). The muscles were deemed to be short if shorter than the normal average -1SD. In bare feet 8 participants had short medial ham...

A Portable Ankle-Foot Rehabilitation Orthosis Powered by Electric Motor

Powered ankle-foot orthosis can not only prevent foot-drop and assist patients’ walking but also improve the ankle joint movement for patients with dysfunction caused by the various injuries and nervous system diseases. Common ankle rehabilitation devices limit the ankle injury patients’ rehabilitation training within fixed places, so a portable powered ankle-foot orthosis is presented in this ...

Effect of ankle-foot orthosis on roll-over shape in adults with hemiplegia.

Ankle-foot orthoses (AFOs) are intended to improve toe clearance during swing and ankle position at initial contact (IC) and midstance. Changes that lead to improved ankle-foot kinematics may result in a more biomimetic roll-over shape (ROS). ROS is the effective geometry to which the ankle-foot complex conforms between IC and contralateral IC. An effective ROS during gait may facilitate forwar...
